About me
I am a ceramic maker based in East Lothian, Scotland. I make ceramics intended to be used and enjoyed every day.
Having grown up on a farm she has also travelled extensively to New Zealand and Japan where she worked in various potteries gaining vital skills and influences.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Design Honours Degree in Ceramics from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee.
She combines a studio based practice making ceramics/pottery and paintings prints and posters to sell direct to customers , as well as bespoke commissions and public art projects. She teaches part time in a local school.
Charlotte makes ceramics that are functional, decorative, and practical.
All works are hand built /and or thrown on the wheel, working mostly with Stoneware clays, glazes, oxides, experimenting with textures and expressive brushwork.
The ceramics and painting reflect her influence from the diverse themes of nature, the sea and ancient mythology, as well as ancient Japanese and Korean ceramics.
All works are hand built /and or thrown on the wheel, using a diverse range of clay glazes and glaze firings. Raku and stoneware firings produce vibrant copper lustres and rich oxide glazes. The ceramics and painting mirror my love of the diverse themes of nature mixed with ancient mythology and the Sea.
My ceramics are twice fired, to a final temperature of 1220Β°C, making the finished ware suitable for dishwasher and oven use.
Many pieces are produced in limited runs and may not be available in future.
Some pieces are one-offs.
